Constitution Gardens Design Competition
Washington, DC

Heritage Landscapes is thrilled to be a member of the winning team for Constitution Gardens in the National Mall Design Competition. Peter Walker & Partners Landscape Architect and Rogers Marvel Architects led the talented interdisciplinary team to prepare a respectful rehabilitation entry that responded to the degraded condition of this important landscape today. Heritage Landscapes contributed detailed research about this 1960s-70s modernist design, its intent, and context, to build a foundational understanding of this unique park. The winning scheme activates the design ideas that were never fulfilled, heightens the intended effects, celebrates ecological health, and engages visitors in a range of activities to forge a renaissance for Constitution Gardens.
